The 17th annual Teacher of the Year awards program, “Cox Presents: A Salute to Teachers”, was held on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the San Diego Civic Theatre. The Academy Awards-style live television special, which honors the county’s 26,000 public school teachers, featured celebrity presenters, musical and dance performances and the 49 nominees for San Diego County Teachers of the Year. The show is recognized nationally as one of the best of its kind, and has earned 12 Emmy awards.

The Fish Market has proudly served as one of the major sponsors of the program for over 10 years. In addition, we provided the food for the pre-show VIP reception for the nominees. Suzanne, Mike and Ai were putting on a great show themselves by serving up prawn cocktails, smoked salmon, specialty desserts and other Fish Market delicacies to over 150 appreciative guests.

We remain committed to education in all its forms, and promote it by maintaining a marine outreach program involving schools in Southern and Northern California. And we recognize the immense value that teachers and their schools bring to their communities. To the five individuals named as County Teachers of the Year, and the 44 other nominees, we “Salute” you.
